Hey its Dan…you can call me Duff, Dan or both…where do I begin?!
I was born right here in Omaha, in 1964. Thanks to my dad’s transient career with the Burlington Northern Railroad, I also lived in Philadelphia, Chicago and eventually returned to Omaha in 1976.
What got me into radio…? Listening to WLS outta Chicago…The Mighty 1290 KOIL…59 WOW…those jocks were magical and creative…I would listen, especially late at night while slacking off on my homework, thinking how cool it would be to be a jock on the radio…also thought it would be a great way to avoid, working for a living.

I didn’t have to go too far to find my quest on how one gets into radio. It came to me my sophomore year of high school at Lincoln Southeast when a radio course was offered through Junior Achievement…enrolling in this course led me to my first gig pulling records and commercials as a lackey for jocks, which eventually turned into an on-air job at KFOR in Lincoln, NE at the age of 16…I also called up rock veteran Joe Blood to get more of an insight on the FM rock radio scene...
Radio’s taken me to a lot of cool places…Minneapolis, Phoenix, San Antonio, Denver and Colorado Springs.
Been married for 2 years…met my wife Kristi at Z-92, and like any classy radio guy…hooked up at a drive through wedding chapel in Vegas.
I have a 15 year old son, Dylan who digs video games and knows more than I’ll ever know about Halo. We’re very much alike and that scares me…and my ex-wife! One day his mom heard him cursing and swearing while playing video games with his buddies and he apologized by saying…”Sorry, I got Dad’s blood…”
I’m the only guy in the house with two teenage stepdaughters, Jen and Katie…one who’s cell has more classic rock on it than your average kid… (do you know of any 15 year old girl who has Yes or The Beatles on her smart phone?)
I reside in Glenwood, Iowa, and like kickin’ it on the patio with a good-tastin’ premium beer.
I’ve been with Journal Broadcast Group off and on since 1994…thanks for listening!
